Save time and money
Beat the olden days of struggling to repair a gravel driveway with a heavy old wheelbarrow and shovel on a hot summer’s day! or digging out a water filled stormwater trench with a pick and shovel on a cold rainy arvo when the footy is on TV
Less than 5.5 feet in height
Our mini excavator can be operated without its canopy to less than 5.5 feet in height as required. Other options to enable our equipment to access your work area include temporarily dismantling gates or fence panels or requesting access through a neighbouring property. Our late model mini excavator, tipper trailer and walk behind equipment are ideal for providing our clients with garden care and garden improvement solutions across our tree removal, landscaping and yard cleanup services.
Our earthmoving equipment is used for both garden care & garden improvements.
THE MOST VERSITILE OF OUR EARTHMOVING EQUIPMENT IS OUR MINI EXCAVATOR
We specialize in TIGHT ACCESS EARTH WORKS our Excavator is amongst the narrowest and shortest in height available, ideal for passing through carports and gates in our client’s residential gardens. As a good rule of thumb if you are able to wheel 2 council wheelie bins side by side through to the work area then our excavator and other earthmoving equipment can also pass through. This gives our machinery enough room to maneuverer.
Inward retracting tracks
Our excavator is fitted with inward retracting tracks and can be configured to squeeze to 820mm in total width enabling us to pass through spaces less than 1 metre wide or just under 40 Inches if you’re a bit old school or American! Our excavator can be configured with different attachments for heavy soil digging, spreading of soils, trenching, soil profiling, posthole boring, load shifting and stump and root removal and is fitted with rubber tracks that won’t damage lawn areas, pavement or concrete surfaces.
SPECIALIST EARTH WORKS SOLUTIONS
Tree Stump & Root Removal
Sometimes it is necessary to remove a tree and quite often it is best to also remove the stump and roots as well. As experienced tree workers we understand the need to preserve healthy trees in the vicinity when removing unsuitable or dead trees, stumps and roots.
We know the root systems of various trees and plants vary immensely and can accurately estimate where the underground root system is likely to be and if there is any reason to remove it or not and if so to what extent is optimal greatly reducing unnecessary disruption to other areas.
Root removal is ideal for removing stumps and roots in rocky areas where stump grinding would damage machinery and flick debris near buildings. It is also preferable if the area is to be replanted to remove stumps and roots.
Our EXCAVATOR is fitted with a hydraulic thumb which assists us to shift stumps, logs and other waste efficiently. In areas of dense fallen bark and sticks a rake attachment in conjunction with the hydraulic thumb can be used to efficiently clear under trees minimising ground disturbance and is an ideal solution for reducing potential fuel in fire hazard areas.
SOIL IMPROVEMENT FOR PLANTING
For plants and trees to thrive careful planning is required.
Attention to soil properties including drainage, future root growth and proximity to above ground and below ground assets.
Unimproved land areas benefit from soil improvementto improve the performance of trees and plants this reduces susceptibility to pest and disease, stunting and undue reliance of resourcesjust to survive rather than thrive.
THE SECRET TO A HEALTHY GARDEN IS IN THE SOIL
Prior to improving soil for new lawns and garden beds excess builders’ rubble and other soil that is unsuitable for direct planting needs to be removed.
In new housing areas it is common that the soil visible on the surface contains a lot of rubble and rock, concrete waste from the building process which needs to be removed first.
The next step is a process of mechanically blending the remaining heavy soil with organic matter to enable its ability to support healthy plant growth.
As landscapers we get very excited to see this soil visibly change from clumpy and stiff to a soil that is loose and free flowing and continue the process of adding more organic matter and continuemechanical blending as required, this soil is now able to let air, water through, contains plenty of healthy organic matter and is now what we call the subsoil.
This subsoil is then levelled, moderately compacted and a topsoil is spread on top, this is the fresh new soil that we see before new lawn is laid directly on the surface. Soil improvement is done in a blending process to avoid radical changes in soil composition.
This leaves a healthy top soil and a healthy subsoil below and enables water to drain down and plant roots to spread.
Deeper rooted plants and trees require planting holes of suitable depth and width relative to the root system and characteristics of the tree or plant. The same principals of soil improvement are used.
STORMWATER SYSTEM REPAIR
Effective Stormwater systems are essential to maintaining the structural integrity of roofing and building foundations and avoiding erosion of ground surface areas.
Over time soil compaction and movement cause soil levels to change, tree roots can also damage subsurface stormwater piping as well as vehicle traffic particularly around driveway areas and piping that becomes exposed to the elements can become brittle and break. In some cases, this is a notable hazard to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
PLAYFORD GARDEN CARE can restore the function of storm water by digging up damaged sections, repairing or redirecting the piping away from vehicle and pedestrian areas.
IRRIGATION
Playford Garden Care can provide trenching for installation of domestic irrigation systems.
LIGHT DEMOLITION
Light demolition, dismantling and removal of outdoor area structures including garden sheds, disused shade houses, brick BBQs, broken concrete paths, garden kerbing and clotheslines to make way for new.
POSTHOLE DIGGING
Posthole Digging is Ideal for clothesline installations, trellis and lattice installation and can be used in
suitable areas to bore holes for new tree planting.
TRENCHING FOR UTILITIES
Our clients residential building extensions and repairs sometimes require trenches for shallow depth plumbing and electrical installations. This can include a trench to power a shed or a trench for freshwater plumbing.
These excavations are under direction from appropriately licenced trades that provide us specifications including depths and required location and pathway.
Importantly we do not provide deep level trenching.
PAVEMENT PREPERATION
Preparation of path and toolsheds, compaction of surfaces prior to pavement.
